{"id":1888,"date":"2020-02-04T12:24:56","date_gmt":"2020-02-04T17:24:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mathewkiang.com\/?p=1888"},"modified":"2021-03-12T15:40:16","modified_gmt":"2021-03-12T20:40:16","slug":"our-new-paper-about-opioid-prescribing-patterns-in-the-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mathewkiangcom.local\/2020\/02\/04\/our-new-paper-about-opioid-prescribing-patterns-in-the-us\/","title":{"rendered":"Our new paper about opioid prescribing patterns in the US"},"content":{"rendered":"<span  class=\"x-dropcap\" >S<\/span>ome notes about a new (open access) paper with Keith Humphreys, Mark Cullen, and Sanjay Basu\u00a0\u2014 &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmj.com\/content\/368\/bmj.l6968\">Opioid prescribing patterns among medical providers in the United States, 2003-17: retrospective, observational study<\/a>&#8221; \u2014 just published in <em>BMJ.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reproducible code is available on <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mkiang\/disproportionate_prescribing\/\">the official paper Github repository<\/a>. I don&#8217;t plan to make any changes, but just in case, <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mkiang\/disproportionate_prescribing\/releases\/tag\/v1.0\">the first release<\/a> is the version of the code used to produce the manuscript.<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve created a <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mkiang\/disproportionate_prescribing\/tree\/master\/apps\">handful of Shiny apps<\/a> for interested readers. What we present in the paper is only a tiny sliver of all the results \u2014 additional results by drug, sensitivity analyses, outcome, and geography are available through the apps.<\/li>\n<li>Despite our best efforts, we were not able to share the aggregated (proprietary) data. However, we&#8217;ve created a mechanism for other researchers to access the data through Stanford&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/redivis.com\/StanfordPHS\/\">Center for Population Health Science&#8217;s Data Core<\/a>.
